For
those of us older folks who remember life in the 1950’s and 60’s it seems
incredible how much life has changed in the time between then and now. Today we
live in an age that has no moral compass and seems to have disregarded any
sense of moral or ethical value to the dust bin. What is difficult to
understand is what was right then is now wrong today. This includes things that
once guided our behavior such as beliefs and attitudes that required a
sense of responsibility for our own actions. But not today.
Rather than address
behavior and actions that once were considered wrong and immoral we now use
semantics to justify such disgusting actions or beliefs. Actions such as
homosexuality is now reinterpreted as nothing but a change of lifestyle, or
adultery as merely a game practiced by consenting adults, or marriage to be considered only a legal contract or
formality.
Back
then these topics had an entirely different meaning than they do now. Today homosexuality
is considered normal to the point that those who practice such activity can now
“marry,” adopt children and be considered living a “normal” lifestyle. Marriage
now has no spiritual foundation or purpose other than qualify for a Veteran
Administration house loan or other such nonsense. And as for adultery just tune
into your favorite news channel and see what is going on with the likes of “Stormy”
Daniels!
There
was a time when a Christian was regarded as one who wished to live by God’s
order. The Bible was the guide. Actions that are now promoted as “normal” and
good are actually contrary to what was once accepted as truth. But like Palite
said to Jesus, “…what is truth?” It seems truth today is viewed subjectively as
that which justifies a person’s behavior no matter how detestable the action
may be.
Yet
there are those who counter anyone who insists on scripture by saying “…There
is no God!” or “My choice is none of God’s business!” And there are of course
those who say God has no place in our political decisions or anything else
relating to our world. Religion should be kept within the walls of a church and
not in the public realm they say. So today the world continues to spiral
downward until everything becomes the hell everyone denies.
This
becomes increasing evident in the political arena. It seems it started with
what happened in Hollywood when mogul Harvey Weinstein and his brother Bob, who founded Miramax. They produced numerous award winning movie pictures and helped
many new actresses achieve fame. However the price these young women paid cost
them plenty in the end. For many their start to “fame” came about on the famous
“casting couch” in the producers’ office! Since the first women to come out and
seek justice included actresses Rose McGowan and Ashley Judd some 82 others
joined them in denouncing Weinstein. As a result he has filed for bankruptcy
and Miramax is no more.
The outage of Weinstein’s behavior erupted in a series
of other accusations of sexual harassment against vulnerable women including
television actor Bill Cosby, several United States senators, congressmen, and
CEO’s of industries. Some face current court trials while others simply
“retired.”
But
since that time the people have been undulated with news reports of adulterous
behavior leading all the way to the President of the United States, Donald
Trump. And here is where “Stormy” Daniels comes in play.
It
is alleged that she was approached by Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen and offered
$130,000 to keep secret a purported sexual encounter with Trump before he was a
candidate for the presidency. The incident occurred some 10-11 years ago she
said. She also apparently signed a document agreeing with the deal but now
recants and wants to be able to benefit from her one time night stand with
Trump. As a consequence Trump’s legal team has filed a several million dollar
suits against Daniels for breach of contract. It’s a sordid mess that only
glamorizes such activity. By the way, Trump denies the allegation.
For
“Stormy” her action is nothing more than another form of prostitution—an activity
and career she is well familiar with. She is portrayed as “an adult porn film
star” which is nothing other than a sanitized version of a hooker.
As
for Trump most Americans pay little attention to his prior presidential
life-style. If he is guilty of adulteress behavior he isn’t the first man to do
so. It’s his soul and how carelessly he treats it is his concern and no one
else’s. This is called free will. Speaking as a Christian whatever he does in
this life he will answer to He who created us and all that can be said is “Good
luck!” For those who say there will be no accounting for such a life style all
that can again be said is “Good luck—this time you will really need it!”
And
that is the difference between the spiritual and temporal life? Going back to
the 1950’s and 60’s we see the huge difference between then and now. Back then
we were guided by what was known as values of life that kept us for the most
part on the straight path. We were aware of the consequences of misbehavior.
But today if we accept bad misbehavior as the norm then we can expect the
degeneration of society as it is happening today.
But
Trump seems to have made a bit of a change in his behavior. The idea of chasing
women, committing acts that are contrary to his marriage appear to be in his
rear view mirror—at least we hope so for his benefit.
As
for “Stormy” all that can be said is she wakes up, changes her life and make
amends for all she has hurt by her voluntary behavior.
So,
for all of you who may think this writer a prude all I can say is, “Thanks.”
